I recently downloaded a free version of a 2D animation software, Live2D. I was inspired by the game, Ookami Game by Studio Wasabi and decided to give myself a try at this style of animation. Rather than needing to draw each individual frame, Live2D allows you to animate parts of the drawing through transformations and deformations. There is a lot of process necessary to prepare the image. Luckily, the site has official tutorials which are easy to follow. I have made 2 simple animations with live 2D!
I hope to be able to explore utilizing this software more to create more complex sprites of my characters in the future. Drawing each part as its own separate object was a lot more difficult than I initially thought, but once I got it rigged, animating a 2D image was fun! It has its own charm separate from frame-by-frame hand drawn animation!
